Wooden is currently solely run by Joel Douglas and his dog Milli.

Joel is a Designer and Maker based in Canberra. He sees his furniture design as an extension of his architecture studies. Joel places high importance on materials and the detailing of connections and strives to create work that is simple, beautiful and well made.

Joel’s work is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design, he also borrows from modernism and traditional practices. These styles all have a sense of timelessness achieved through Functionality, simplicity of form, quality materials and elegant detailing. Like his influences, Joel wants his work to be timeless and enduring, which he believes is paramount to the longevity and sustainability of all things.
